CAE is an associate member of ALTE (Association of Language Testers in Europe), a recognized institution regarding linguistic training in Europe and around the world. This institution contributes to improving and ensuring the assessment processes to obtain reliable qualifications aligned with the CEFR (Common European Framework of Reference for Languages).

What is ALTE, and what is its fundamental purpose?

ALTE is a non-profit organization founded in 1989 by the University of Salamanca and Cambridge University. It is registered as CIO (Charitable Incorporated Organization).

The goal behind its creation was to offer a partnership framework with the different language test providers to promote fair and accurate language assessments.

Being an ALTE member

To be an ALTE member, CAE has had to meet a series of requirements and prove a vast experience in the type of testing performed and as an examination body.

Carmen Domínguez, E-Learning Project Manager – CEO of CAE and an expert in e-learning after more than 25 years in the sector, has expressed her satisfaction with the association and has highlighted that “ALTE is a demanding institution with respect to its onboarding process since they look for well-established awarding bodies, like ours. CAE and Dexway have always complied with the stipulated requirements and we are proud to officially operate as a member of ALTE.”

Therefore, the associate members are organizations with an important and active role in the language tests and are committed to high-quality standards in language evaluation.

That is why CAE is part of this association and fully shares its goals: establishing quality standards at all stages of assessment processes and improving quality in language certification.

International exams with an official language certification

As an ALTE associate member, CAE is an expert in certification exams. Our language exams can be taken in person, online and in blended modality.

Dexway authorized centers can carry out international certification exams from their schools or online. Within the distance learning modality, the authorized examining center benefits from the online proctoring technology developed by CAE, so that the exams can be done with all the guarantees of reliability.

One of the biggest advantages of Dexway certification is that there are no failing grades, instead, the test only shows the learners’ language proficiency level. Then, students get the language level certificate obtained in the test. The level qualifications range from: A2 to C1 (the highest qualification).
